My husband and I currently have multiple personal and business accounts at PNC; however, we needed to open another business account for a nonprofit. Business accounts are opened by appointment only, so we made an appointment with Meghan Stark. As soon as we walked in, she greeted us with “What ya got?” This was not our first rodeo, so we walked in prepared with the documents we were instructed to bring by the previous manager. She flipped through the documents for about 15 good seconds, but said, “I’m gonna have to get Legal to review these documents before we can open this account.” We’re confused and ask her multiple times what was wrong with our documents. She kept shaking her head, talking fast, and mumbled something nonsensical and then ended with, “We need to have Legal review which can take 2 to 3 days. I apologize, but we have to be careful about the business accounts we open.” Huh? What does that even mean? I told Meghan that it was important that I opened up this account because I was recently given a grant and needed to deposit the check so I can do the community work I was asked to do. My husband and I both of us kept asking for an explanation, but she never really gave us one that made sense. So I motioned several times for her to give me documents back. Meghan held on to them and said, “So you don’t want me to have Legal look at them?” I stood up, said no, and motioned her again to hand me the documents back. We were upset because we felt like we were discriminated against and blown off. As we were walking out of the door, Meghan says, “Well, good luck with your little venture.” Excuse me? What is PNC now? The new Bank of America?

It was ridiculous to open the conversation with “what ya got?” What would have been appropriate is, “This is what is required to open a nonprofit business account.” But Meghan was not helpful AT ALL. Instead of assisting us with what we needed to do, she said it required a legal review. Come on, lady…we’re a small, brand new nonprofit, not a major corporation. The documents weren’t that complicated. Meghan could have simply just told us what was required to make the document acceptable, but she didn’t bother. She chose to pass off documents that she already determined were unacceptable for a bogus “legal review” that she knew would not result in an open account.

We got in the car frustrated, hurt, and offended and drove down the street to Citizens National Bank. We walked in and had a totally different experience with Amanda. She thoroughly reviewed our documents and made a phone call to a colleague. In the end, we had the correct documents; however, our bylaws were missing a piece of information they required. But guess what? She told us what that missing information was and what we needed to do to fix it. We left, came back within the hour, and boom…just like that…account opened immediately.

Banks are supposed to be a partner in business and in life. After that raggedy experience with Meghan Stark, who is the branch manager now, I wouldn’t trust PNC with one crumbled up Mexican peso. As a matter of fact, we are working on moving all of our accounts as soon as possible. It is absolutely true that the level of customer service you receive is always at the discretion of the individual – both Meghan and Amanda proved it that day. It would be crazy town for us to continue to build wealth and partner in business with a company that currently holds our assets but treats us like trash.

So this bank charges people who have checks drawn on their bank %2 to cash them even though it doesn’t cost them anything to get the money from the account they are drawing the check from. Literally had a check drawn on PNC Bank and it was a payroll check from the city and they still want to take %2 of the check. That’s fraudulent in my opinion. I will NEVER do business with this bank.

the WORST customer service i’ve ever experienced. i lost my wallet last week with my debit card, my ID and my credit card inside. i went to the pnc to possibly see what i could do to get some cash out as i really had no other option to pay someone who fixed my car. after walking inside an elderly lady was in front of me just standing there while the ladies behind the counter were having a conversation, one that was absolutely NOT about work. when the lady behind the counter saw me she called me forward but i let the older lady go, and the older lady politely informed her she had been standing there for a while already, the lady behind the counter rudely told her ‘ok well, we were talking.’ the older woman again politely said ‘that’s fine but i was waiting for a while’ english was very obviously not her first language and the lady behind the counter brushed her completely off and rudely handled the transaction needed by criticizing how the lady was going about it and overall being very impatient.

finally it was my turn, i went up to the counter and explained my situation with my wallet and she cut me off before i could even finish and said ‘Ok well you can go to the ATM outside there’s nothing i can do for you’ i explained i didn’t have a contactless payment on my phone and it wouldn’t allow me to use it and now all three ladies inside the bank were insisting i go to the ATM outside and to just handle it there. hopeful, i went to the atm and lo and behold. it didn’t work. i went thru the drive thru and explained that id be willing to give them any info they needed in order to verify my identity, social security, birth certificate, i had my drivers license numbers MEMORIZED and i had my pnc bank app up and showing it to them.

the lady simply smiled at me and said ‘you can come talk to the manager inside but there’s nothing i can do for you.’ No suggestions. No help. Nothing. she could’ve suggested that i go get a new debit card cut at the georgetown location as they have a card cutter, but clearly their conversation they were having was way more important than what i could possibly need help with. Bitter, sad, women.

this is the last time i will get treated like this at this location, and through this banking. i’ve been a bbva and pnc banker for over a decade, but will be switching to a different bank as soon as possible. if this is just how their employees take care of you, i can’t imagine what the corporation does.

This is a lukewarm review. The people are great! However, it would be great if they’d answer the phone. I eneded up calling another branch for help. The physical counter needs updating. I don’t like the stains all over the wooden area. It looks unhealthy eventhough the staining was from hand sanitizer.

Went to deposit my money at the atm for rent and forgot to unlock my card, instead of returning my money the atm ate my money and didn’t return it. So yeah didn’t get to pay rent bc of that
