5 Reviews on “Austin Telco Federal Credit Union”
Can’t wait to close my account after work. If you experience fraud they WILL NOT COVER the loss. Unlike A plus federal, Navy Credit or Bank of America. Plus if you travel a lot they will lock your card and you have to go in a branch which is inconvenient seeing as how this low budget bank is only in Austin area. DO NOT BANK WITH THEM
I’ve had an account opened with Austin telco for about 6 months. In that 6 month time period my debit card has declined with plenty of funds in my account on more occasions than I could count. In June I was traveling out of state, driving from Texas to Minnesota and left on a Saturday morning. I set my out of state travel notifications and off I went. When I crossed the Texas/Oklahoma border and stopped for gas my card declined. I was panicked, the bank was closed and I had no way to access money and was traveling with a young child. I finally remembered I had a Venmo card and could Venmo to my sister and have her Venmo back to me. Luckily Venmo was reliable since my bank wasn’t. I had to keep doing this throughout my trip and even to pay for my hotel. I called the bank Monday morning and they assured me that it wouldn’t happen again, all my travel restrictions were lifted. So tell my why when I was driving back home the following Sunday my card decided to decline again? I had no phone signal, no gas, and waited for over an hour to be able to get in touch with my sister at 1am to Venmo to her again. Austin telco was completely unreliable.
The following month I went online to pay my sprint bill, that I’ve paid many times online, and my card declined. I angrily called the bank and they said that it was declining because the charge was originating outside of Texas. They lifted all travel restrictions and it declined 10 more times. They finally said the only solution was to withdraw cash and go to the sprint store to handle my transaction. Again, because they are unreliable.
I got my nails done at a local nail salon and when I went to go pay, card declined. I had plenty of funds in my account. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have your card decline on you with people waiting in line behind you? I now get worried everywhere I go about it my card is going to work or not.
This morning when doing some online Black Friday shopping my card has declined again. This is the last straw. Austin telco is the MOST UNRELIABLE financial institution I have EVER banked at.
Austin telco blames VISA for the card declines but I have never had issues with any other bank I’ve been at, and plenty of them used visa for their card services.
10/10 do not recommend.
Ms. Deanna and Mr. Jeff, aka the dynamic duo, are pretty decent. Better than that, really. And that girl in the Drive Thru has a gorgeous smile. It’s even more gorgeously gorgecious when on the other side of the window.
Best Free Coffee and they do the fancy triangle thing en los banos. I recommend a rug for the bathrooms. Floor is so clean, it can be slippery. And it would eliminate the reflection seen under the door.

So far so good. First bank i have used since BOA scandel 10 yrs or so ago. Everyone at this location is very friendly.
The ATM at this location is consistently out of service. It needs to be fully replaced and they just keep trying to fix. It’s a major inconvenience to your customers. Stop being so cheap and replace the ATM please.
