5 Reviews on “TruWest Credit Union Legend Oaks”
Chris Villalpando the teller at this credit union was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. An older woman teller was unable to figure out how to deposit an out of state municipal business check into my business account even after giving her every account number. Chris figured it out and deposited the check with no problem. I will go directly to him next time. This is a clear case where younger people need to educate, train, and manage inflexible old/ senior citizen employees on customer service and technology and common sense.
Doing business with the people in the branch has been good, much better than having to deal with Truwest over the phone. The 4-star rating is based on this individual branch. The phone system used to be effective and you could reach a competent person quickly but no longer, you have to go through the most horrific automated phone menu and then maybe you’ll reach someone competent…maybe. There’s almost never a wait here to do banking and there’s even bathrooms down the hall if you need them.
Seriously, be careful having to deal with them over the phone, they couldn’t even manage to call me back regarding a mortgage refinance after I made 4 phone calls. I have >800 credit score and been a member since the late 90’s, guess they just didn’t want the business.
I keep most of my money elsewhere since their interest rates are quite low compared to other banks.
They had one person that was there for a while that was not the brightest bulb and was aweful to deal with but they’re gone now thank goodness. Their Christmas music selection stinks, I wish they’d stop playing it.
I guess being a longtime member of this Credit Union (1995) means absolutely nothing to them. This location recently had to close due to a broken water pipe in the building. In the meantime we could always visit the other location 22 miles away! No thanks!! When I complained about the lack of locations in the 10th largest city in the USA on their Facebook page my comment was deleted. This was on the posting about the new multimillion dollar financial center that just opened in Arizona. We were told that we could make deposits and withdrawals from UFCU because the TruWest ATM is still not working. When we used the UFCU ATM we were charged a $3 fee. We called customer service and were told that they don’t charge fees at UFCU in Arizona but that we are out of luck in Texas. How about just giving me back the $6 for making 2 withdrawals instead of giving excuses? Pitiful customer service and their local phone number isn’t working!! What happened Tru West??
I’ve been a member for over 5 years, but I can’t take it anymore. This credit union uses archaic systems that makes everything a difficult chore for members. Choose this bank if you want the most inconvenient experience available on the market. For example, my check took over a week to clear, and truwest, (in violation of their member agreement) didn’t inform me that it would take so long. I had none of the “red flags” they list that might cause delay. Every single time you call customer support you get a foreign person telling you they can’t help and to call the main support line (they can’t transfer you, they can just give you the number). But then, that person gives you the same exact number you just called, so you just go in circles! Chat agents have been unhelpful and rude. If you want a credit union, there are others that have prioritized member convenience and attempted to modernize—I would urge you to choose those. I certainly will be going forward.
The folks at the branch have been extremely helpful to me. For customer service they get 5 stars!
There is room for improvement with the credit union.
1. The ability to make a TruWest VISA payment from an outside bank account needs significant improvement. It should not take “days” for a payment to post. TruWest needs to look at other credit card companies and see how they are able to post payments by close of business day (Discover, Citi, Bank of America, etc). My last payment was scheduled on June 27 and did not post until July 2. For credit card payment online from outside banks, TruWest scores 1 star.
2. The ability to wire money from online banking or remotely needs to be improved. There are only branches in TX and AZ, and only in certain cities. If you are not in a city that has a TruWest, wiring money is impossible. For this TruWest scores 1 star.
The ability to pay a VISA from another bank within a day is extremely important to me and has thus significantly lowered the score that I am giving.
