This is the little Credit Union that could!

If you live in Amarillo or Canyon, Texas, and are having a hard time getting financing or just need a chill vibe bank, use The People’s Federal Credit Union!

They gave me my first car loan, it was the bank my husband and I used while I was going to school in Amarillo.

I grew up in Amarillo and I have never been treated more respectfully by a personal bank than I have with TPFCU. Remember your roots. They will be there for you!

I’ve been a member here for over a year. The wife and I went in there to get a loan. We filled out the confusing application and waited for about 20 minutes to be seen. When we sat down with the loan officer Alex I noticed he wasn’t friendly at all. We showed him our ADP statements and that’s when it got weird. He had a condescending attitude towards my wife and lied about what our credit score was “ we went back to the house and checked, it was 10 points higher than he said”. He also said we were approved for only 7 grand lol. We went to Anb and got approved for 45 grand with no down payment with a smile and a friendly attitude. I’m sure Alex was jealous about how much the wife made. I will be closing my account with them and moving my business to Amarillo national bank. No wonder they have such a low rating on here. I definitely do not recommend them to anyone.

THANK YOU LYNDSAY at PFCU. I Ieft for a trip w/o any of my bank cards and zero cash. Lyndsay guided me through Apple Pay setup.
The trip wasn’t a disaster after all.

Went to Peoples because my husband had an account there and thought it would build some credit for him if he applied for a loan with me as a co-signer. Applied for a personal loan of $15k. (Found my dream car but it was 10+ years old so i knew most credit institutions wouldn’t do an auto loan on it). I have a 701 Equifax (Yes Alex, i checked it right after i left your bank, and to my point, Equifax as of today was a 701 – NOT a 694 like you condescendingly corrected me on) and make a little under $200k a year (worked with my company for 8 straight years). I have done business with ANB for 10 years, but again was looking to establish some credit with my husbands bank. (He’s been the stay at home dad for 3 years and is just getting back to the workforce and credit establishment)
Alex’s attitude went directly south when he saw my ADP statement (which showed $185,000 YTD). He quickly told me they would only approve $7k, due to my husband not having a job long, and that they were “blending our credit scores?”. I asked if i could just remove him as an applicant and was told no. Realizing the complete lack of customer service on Alex’s side (no thought/idea to how to make the loan work, just a “no, you’re only approved for $7k, sorry” and him being argumentative about my credit score) i quickly got up, thanked him and left. Went directly to ANB, who apologized profusely for my treatment at Peoples and was approved pretty immediately for the $15k. My husband was so embarrassed about my treatment he is cancelling his bank account there and moving it to ANB.
Quick thought Peoples: If you have a customer who makes $200k a year, and has a 700 credit score, I’d get management involved on how to make a $15k loan work before I let them walk out of my office, but that’s probably why they have a 2.7 Google Review.
It was a lesson for my husband, and an assurance to me on why ANB gets all my business (We have our home loan and auto loans through them, and now a 15k personal loan).
Thank you ANB for being such a great bank to work with all these years. I recommend anyone having issues with Peoples to go there. I’d also recommend Alex go through some training on how to be more personable and helpful in his role, as i’m sure i’m not the only customer that took my business elsewhere after dealing with his attitude.

The staff is always helpful and friendly. Better than a big name bank.
