I needed a short term loan for airfare. I visited several pawn shops in the area and this is the only one I can recommend. The employees are professional, courteous and pleasant. They know the value of their goods and offer a fair amount. Most pawn shops understand that you wouldn’t be there if you had any other alternative and treat you like dirt for it. Aransas Pawn and Jewelry treats you like a customer. They don’t deal in unrealistic prices, nor gouging someone just because they’re down on their luck at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a pawn shop and they operate to make a profit. However, they treat their customers with the respect and honesty a customer deserves. I have personally experienced both sides of the business. I have pawned items here when I needed a fast loan due to an emergency and I have purchased multiple items from them as well. On every occasion I left the store happy and content that I was treated fairly and with courtesy. These guys really go the extra mile. So much so that I stop in sometimes just to find out how one of the employees faired in a shooting tournament. Most pawn shop employees and owners make me feel like I was violated. Furthermore, the vast majority are know it alls who lie straight to your face about the value of any item, even when they know nothing about it. The guys at Aransas Pawn and Jewelry make it feel more like you stopped to visit a friend who helped you out when you needed it. They respect that you have a knowledge and personal history with items you pawn for collateral and they don’t devalue your opinion or your items. In an industry filled with snakes, thieves and people looking to skin you for every penny, it’s refreshing to find a pawn shop that stands out from the rest. When you’re in a tough spot the last thing you need is someone making your life tougher. Aransas Pawn and Jewelry is a joy to do business with when necessity dictates a need for the service they offer. When it’s not a matter of necessity, it’s still a great place to find some fantastic deals and make a few friends in an unfriendly business!
I suddenly needed them after Harvey. Hadn’t been to one in 15 years. I must say I don’t recall the people being so nice in SM where I went to school. He asked me what I needed ($) and graciously gave it to me. Came back two weeks later to retrieve my items and he remembered my name. Hope I never need em again but if you do I highly recommend them!
