Do NOT bank here!! Choose elsewhere! They don’t keep your account up to date and your transactions won’t post until DAYS LATER causing a major overdraft.. then a $35 fee for each transaction that THEY are responsible for. For example, I purchased an Airbnb and groceries on July 7, and it didn’t even post as pending or take from my account until the 11th!!! Causing an overdraft because my available balance was over $2k when I was spending thinking I had $ when in reality they weren’t taking it out as the transaction was happening. I’m overdrawn over $1k bc of them and it just keeps going up bc they are just now pending my transactions from LAST WEEK. I’m not paying this and closing my account. We should all report this bank as fraudulent and get a case going bc they are thieves!!

I have had a great experience moving into Athens two years ago and First State Bank has been a big part of of helping my husband and I with setting up investments and financing in our transition. Armando and Amber have been wonderful to us and really helpful when we needed it. I look forward to using this bank to teach our twin boys about finances as they head to college. It’s been a big positive part of moving to Athens. Thank you. Cristy and Tony Stavely

I was a customer of this bank for four years. I went in to ask for a loan with a co signer. I was told by J Armando Rincon Vice President /loan officer that divorce was not a excuse for having bad credit. I should have be responsible for my credit card debt and pay off full amount. He did not greet me with any welcoming words. Very rude. If I could rate this bank with no stars I would. He then told me my co signer had to have a bank account at bank in order to co sign for any loan. I would recommend to everyone I would not to bank with First State Bank in Athens. There hours of operation are horrible. I have never been unhappy with a bank more in my 48 years on this earth.

Love banking with FSB but that Elaine, Mrs Employee of the month is about rude as hell. She definitely doesn’t need to be in customer service nor does she deserve in employee of the month. Went in to ask a question and she literally acted as if I was bothering her!

This isn’t the “home town bank” the portray themselves as. When you call the branch number you’ll be connected with a call center allowing them to cower behind that wall. I can say for certain I’ve been shown more sympathy and respect at Bank of America and even Chase. You’re better off with the prepaid cards you can get for free and connect your direct deposit to. It’s definitely cheaper. When they say no transactions will post and then the let them and charge you nearly $200, something is wrong. We need new bank regulations to reel in the absurd charges banks are allowed to impose. This bank is no better than the car title loan or payday loan places. Their rating is 2.8 as of this post.
