This branch will not allow you to open a personal checking account if you are black and don’t look “the part”. I wanted to open an account, called 15 minutes ahead and the man (who had a very distinctive and identifiable voice) asked me why I wanted to open an account, then told me to come right in. When I walked in, that same man was sitting at the front desk, and looked at me like I was the scum of the earth. When I told him I had just called, he asked me the same question again. I told him the same answer. He then told me they didn’t want my business and could not open an account. He did not ask me how much I was going to deposit that day. I would love to see how many black customers this branch has. It’s probably none. How did I confirm this? From this location I drove immediately to the medical drive location and pulled my corvette up to the big windows so that everyone could see me get out of my car. When I walked in, the manager and employees commented on my car, then proceeded to ask me not even a single question. They immediately handed me an application. (The Sevenoaks branch wouldn’t even give me an application). The managers didn’t ask me a single question as to “why do you need to open a checking account?” As the other branch did. So – First United will serve you if you’re black – BUT only if you have an expensive car and make sure to park it where the managers are going to be sure to see it! Because we are still living in 1742. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. SHAME ON YOU FIRST UNITED SEVENOAKS! I will be complaining to the attorney general and every other bureau, department, and board in the state of Texas about this branch. And I will not stop until YOUR POLICIES ARE CHANGED AND THE RACIST AND DISCRIMINATORY FRONT DESK STAFF ARE FIRED.
