Don’t use BFCU unless you want to burn your own money!

BFCU Has decided to randomly levy fees that were nonextistant prior to, staff previously guaranteed there were no such fees. They, after filing an NCUA complaint, decided to pause the ability to transfer funds in/out, and canceled a pending transfer.

They are now holding ransom over 1k in funds when I’m unemployed and have bills to pay. They refuse to be helpful, and I have now filed a follow up complaint with the NCUA.

I still have not received any communications or correspondence regarding my account, other than a threatening email about reporting me to credit bureaus. I don’t even have any lines of credit with BFCU.

I’m unable to make any successful contact with BFCU. They have my email, address, and phone on file.

Never use BFCU, they are greedy thieves and unethical at best for any form of savings, checking, or otherwise.

I have banked with Blue for 20 some years and there has been a steady decline since Warren became blue. It seems that where other banking institutions are moving forward, Blue is adopting dated policies that show it no longer cates about it’s members. Suddenly they are charging a fee for me to hold an account that was free. Where my funds are available early most of the time with other accounts at different institutions they are delayed when going to Blue. Where many institutions have dropped or lowered their overdraft fee Blue has maintained theirs. They were once my primary institution, but now I’m deciding whether or not to even keep an account with Blue.

Lost all trust in Blue today, and I am super disappointed by this, its been a good relationship to this point. Today I went to the bank and pulled some money for vacation to find I was missing money in one of my savings accounts. Turns out the money had been transferred to a adult childs account to balance their debt. I had no idea without my consent as the primary on my account that my money could be taken without my knowledge and applied to another Blue account I have no control or access to. Turns out how it was done was with the rights of the bank but what a bummer as I leave for vacation. Now this leaves me wondering how many other ways can Blue take my money and give it to someone else? again they say they did what they were allowed to do but it sure would have been nice to at least let me know they were taking my money. Make sure you ask how many different ways can they take your money and give it to someone else without your knowledge. Makes me nervous to leave my money with Blue, now I wonder what else can they do.

Update: today is 1/30/2024, I sent my contact number as requested to Blue back on 1/16/2024 and as I figured nobody has reached out. If they will take my money and transfer it to someone else’s account that I have no connection to without even a phone call I am not surprised they have not called. They took money we hoped to have for our 25th anniversary trip we were leaving on three days later! THANKS BLUE!!!

Update: 2/15/2024 Still not a word from Blue, why did you ask for my contact info?

Update: 2/27/2024 ….you guessed it, still no contact

Update: 3/13/2024 ….. Still not a word from a bank rep. If you have no honest intention of making contact why ask me to send my information?

Update 3/22/2024: Finally was contacted by Blue…Spoke with a nice representative of the bank. Results were as I figured, they acted within their policy to resolve an issue with another persons account and used my money to do it. Frustrating Blue can take my money and give it to someone else who has accounts I have no access to, or knowledge of until this incident. I figured Blue would at least contact me to let me know they were about to seize my money to benefit other parties Blue being one of those parties. All is said and done, Blue pulled money from my account without my knowledge or consent. Hard to trust an institution that will not even let you know they are going to give your money to someone else.

To BOB LARSON – BFCU employee. You were absolutely fantastic in helping me during a dire time. You literally walked me through all the steps and stayed with me on the phone for the ENTIRE TIME. Your customer service is beyond what I expected. You have phenomenal WORLD CLASS CUSTOMER SERVICE. Always ASK FOR BOB. He will not disappoint. His services should and absolutely need to be recognized by this Company.

Updated – November 2023: Okay, NOW I understand the bad reviews.
    1. My husband attempted to refinance his boat with Blue. They drug the process out over 6 weeks and then finally told him they couldn’t do it (it wasn’t for credit score reasons).
    2. I just wanna make a couple of payments. That’s all – just this mundane chore that should take 30 seconds. Their platform doesn’t allow you to make a payment with your checking account info or debit card, you literally have to connect an external account and transfer money. This would be fine, except I kept receiving an error message and the rep didn’t know how to help. I HAD TO ORDER PAPER CHECKS AND STAMPS LIKE IT’S 1998 TO MAKE A SINGLE PAYMENT TO THIS PLACE. I swear to god, I haven’t had to make so many phone calls for mundane things since the 90s. It’s all VERY antiquated.

I’m not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I’ve had the most responsive and helpful experience with Blue. I have 3 loans with them and received the best service. I currently use Capital One for my personal banking – just for the technology and ease of use with their app; however, I’m considering switching everything to Blue’s antiquated personal banking – because all my experiences with them have been THAT GOOD.
